Landon

A few weeks ago Landon and I decided that we would take a little trip down to my Grandpa's house. For me it meant a weekend of peace and relaxation, and also a chance to make more memories with my Grandpa and to also attend the Temple with him.We went last weekend and had a really great time!

On the down we stopped and ate and One Man Band Diner. For some reason Landon couldn't grasp why it's called that, and I don't know why it is, but I'm really not concerned with it.
I had a ham and cheese omelet.... so good!

After that we went to my Grandpa's house and spent time with him watching some TV and then went to bed early.

The next morning I got up early and went to the Temple. My Grandpa was part of the session that I attended, and afterward he met me in the Celestial Room for some discussion. He also showed me all of the sealing rooms, and the spiral staircase. It's quite breathtaking. He also "lovingly" introduced me to some of his friends as his "old maid granddaughter." Thanks Grandpa.

This is my Grandpa's house. I LOVE this house. It holds so much love and so many memories for me and my family. Especially memories of my Grandma who passed away three years ago, almost to the day. This place is so welcoming and comforting. There's just no where else like it.

My Grandpa had quite the collection on icicles on his house, and Landon couldn't help but use one as some sort of dagger! He looks like some kind of warrior.

When I got back from the Temple I made breakfast for Landon and me and then we eventually got up and went down to Manti and Ephraim and checked out some of the shops there. They are ones that have been there my whole life, but not once have I been to any of them. There really are some "treasures" there as you'll see.

 Scarfs of many colors.

Hillbilly fly swatters that Landon insisted that we buy.

Adult bibs.......

... which Landon was happy to model. Although I think the title of his book should be "special" child.

Children's Books.

And books about me! If you don't believe me, you should. Because I have wings, and I will show them to you.

We grabbed a snack at my favorite Pizza place... The Pizza Gallery. It was delish!

After that I had to show Landon the Zebra that is by my Grandpa's house... totally random. A zebra... in the middle of no where, central UT.

However... when I was flipping around on the main road I got a little stuck.

I refused to give in and call my Grandpa, so I just kept trying and trying to get unstuck. With my persistence and a little help from Landon, I got out! I wasn't stuck badly, but my tires just went over the part of the road where the road meets the dirt... 2 inches is what was keeping me from the road.

Later that night my Grandpa took us to this amazing restaurant in Mount Pleasant where I got a steak.

Yup... you heard that right. For the first time in my life, I ordered a steak. I'm sure that those of you who know me well are trying not to faint, but don't worry. Miracles do happen.... oh yeah... and I got another one at Outback on Monday. MmmMmm!

A new leaf

With the new year comes thoughts of the year gone by, and hopes for the year to come. This last year has brought a lot of changes to my life. Mainly my looks.I think that I maybe don't give myself credit for what I have accomplished thus far in my weight loss journey, but I think that some of it has to do with the fact that I'm not at the point where I wanted to be right now. I wanted to be done by my birthday, but as we all know, that didn't happen.I know that I have accomplished a lot, and other people recognize it, but I'm just feeling blah about it...
With that being said, finishing my weight loss goal, and well as increasing my spirituality and a few other things are on my list for 2010. Here's to hoping I can accomplish some good this year...

And here is some inspiration for me... and maybe a good laugh for you!!  Go Here to see it!

Now if this isn't inspiration... I don't know what is!

Zoo Lights

My Mom, Amy and I took my 3 nephews- Jordan, Shawn & Alex to see the Zoo Lights! It's this cute display of lights up at the Hogle Zoo that they do every year at Christmas time. They make animals out of Christmas lights & they are pretty adorable.

I'm sure you all remember this as the most terrifying drinking fountain when you were a little kid... I have to admit that back in the day it was pretty scary sticking my head in a lion's mouth to get a drink...

Don't be jealous of my awesome hat!

This was supposed to be the Jordan and Shawn posing... but what you get is Jordan trying to hold Shawn back from running away.

This is Alex in his abominable snowman suit!

There's nothing like a ride on the conservation carousel... let me tell ya. (oh yeah... while Alex's mommy was on the ride Aunt Stefi & Grandma were feeding Alex cotton candy...hehehehehehe)

And last but not least... one of the "baby" tigers was up right next to the fence being playful. I say "baby" because this kitty cat is only a few months old... yet she probably weighs as much as an adult human!

Lighting of the Lights

My good friend Ben took me to see the lights at Temple Square the day after Thanksgiving. It was pretty cold but it was really fun! I haven't gone to Temple Square on the night of the "official lighting" before, but it was nice! There were a lot of people there so I didn't get to see much, but it was still nice to be out on the town... I still have dreams of going on a horse drawn carriage ride...

And apparently someone from Nevada has dreams about the snow in Utah...

I just love the snow and the chill in the air, especially when you get to be surrounded by good friends, pretty lights, and Christmas Music.

UofU Vs. San Diego State!

Yesterday Doug took me to the UofU football game and it was amazing!!!! I had a TON of fun! We rode Trax and a very crowded bus up to the stadium. The forecast was for snow, so I was prepared,  however the weather loved me yesterday! It was pretty chilly, but no snow at all!

I got really hot on the bus so when we first got to our seats I started out with leggings, jeans, a thermal shirt & a t-shirt. After a while it got a bit chilly so on went my hoodie, scarf & very cute new hat. After a while the sun went behind the clouds & it got super cold so the blanket went on next. Doug was somewhat teasing me about being cold, but little did he know that I still had more stuff in my purse to use! Next came my gloves.... then hand-warmers (those little packets of rock-type things that get hot)... and finally in the 3rd Quarter I had to use the restroom & I also needed to be sneaky and put on my extra pair of socks!! I am a sly one... That wasn't all I brought though... I did still have my coat and an umbrella, and I didn't use either of them!

Utah made some really amazing plays and stomped the Aztecs! It was the perfect day for an amazing game... sadly, it is the last home game of the season.

But we're not done yet.... better watch out lame-o BYU Cougars!

U-T-A-H    U-T-A-H
Utah! Utah!
 Fight! Fight! Fight!

Poor San Diego didn't even stand a chance.... we did allow them one touchdown though so their self-esteem & pride wouldn't get completely crushed.... we're sweethearts.

B-day 2009---The BIG 2-5!

So my birthday wasn't extra thrilling this year, I actually had a hard time realizing that I'm 25 now and my life is NOT what I had planned. I'm not saying life is bad by any means, it's just not what was in my play-book.
So here's to another year!

Convenience Store Fun

The other day Jenn wanted to go for a drive & wanted me to buy her a Pepsi. I really, really didn't want to go anywhere. I was perfectly content sitting in my recliner watching TV & actually wanted to stay there. It had been a long day and I was pretty drained. However, Jenn can be VERY convincing & after much pleading she got me to go get her. Oh yeah... that's the other thing... I don't hate driving, but I really don't love it either & would rather not if I didn't have to, so Jenn got really lucky that day.
I came up with a plan that if she was going to make me go drive her somewhere, we were going to drive where I wanted to go & do something ridiculous.
So of course we went to none other than the coolest convenience store which is located in Lake Point. This place has the weirdest and most random junk that I have ever seen at a gas station. The first time that Jenn and I went there I about peed my pants laughing!!

First of all we have a sign that has half of the lights burned out... classy!

Here is a plethora of  interesting animal statue things... I almost bought one but then I went again my better judgment and decided not to.

Ok so this is one of the BEST things there!! They have these sweet canes! They had a lot of different animal shapes. Jenn decided to go with the Owl.

They also have a limited selection of high quality church shoes...

Next is the statue of a dragon with a crystal ball or something... also very tempting.

Ummmm.... what?!?

Really, Flying J? You're selling cassette tapes for 3 for $5? Who even has a cassette player anymore, let alone who would pay that much for them when D.I. probably sells them for 10 cents!

Oh yes... and here is the mini stein with the Salt Lake Temple on it... because Mormons drink beer.

Here is a lovely animal head! This is deceiving. It looks nice and fluffy, but it's not! It's kind of fluffy on the front, but the back is hard & made or styrofoam or something. Definitely not an animal you would want to cuddle with at night.

And yes, I did make Jenn model it!! This is what you get for making me take you!
It's too bad, but I missed taking a pic of the Indian Dream Catchers that they sell...yes. They really do sell Indian Dream Catchers... Lovely!
So next time you are heading out west you need to make the Flying J in LakePoint a must-see destination on your list of things to do!

Jazz vs. Nuggets

Bonnie and I went to the 1st pre-season home game for the Utah Jazz!
Don't let my camera fool you, we were clear up in the nose bleeds.

I took a lot of warm-up shots:

Bet you can't guess who my favorite player is!  That's right... it's #13 MEHMET OKUR - he is SO good looking & he's one of the top scorers on the team!

Waiting for tip off

That's right! It's our ball...and that's Okur who got it for us

This was Bonnie's fav player from Denver. She totally digs his faux-hawk and tattoos

This is closer to what our view was like. It really wasn't too bad sitting that high up, and really, I can't complain too much because the tickets were free.

Hurry! All hands on net!

He shoots.... he scores!

Final Score:
Jazz: 103, Nuggets: 87
Way to go, boys
